John C. (Jack) Fagan
John C. (Jack) Fagan, 68, passed away on May 4, 2005. Jack was born on October 26, 1936, and lived his entire life in Akron. He is preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Dorothy Fagan and his brother, Robert. Jack was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Blanche (Gault) Fagan. He is also survived by his children: John P. Fagan (Jack Ashton) of Greer, SC, Joan Hoffman (Phil) of Wadsworth, Elizabeth Stillwell (Joseph) of Kennesaw, GA, Ralph Fagan of Akron, and Ellen Beldean (Gene) of Norton. Papa will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Sarah, Hannah, Jonathan, Marissa, Mina, Emma, and Seth. He will also be missed by his brother, Richard F. Fagan and members of a large extended family and countless friends. Jack worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for 19 years and recently retired from the City of Akron after 20 years. Truly a "Jack" of all trades, he loved woodworking, automobiles, hunting, his beagles, and everything Irish. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and the Marlboro Volunteers. A voracious reader of American History, Jack eloquently shared his knowledge with anyone who might listen. A celebration of Jack's life will include: Calling hours at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., on Saturday, May 7 from 4-8 p.m. and a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Matthew Catholic Church on SUNDAY May 8 at 6:30 p.m. Prior to Mass, a Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in Jack's name to St. Matthew Catholic Church or the Summit County Historical Society.
