John H. Gonser

John H. Gonser, 88, of Tallmadge, passed away August 28, 2018. John was born in Canton, Ohio on May 25, 1930 to the late Lloyd and Gertrude Gonser. He proudly served during the Korean Conflict, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart in the United States Navy. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Cleveland Indians and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Lovisey Gonser; son, Roger "Butch" Wilt; 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

He will be dearly missed by daughter, Tina (Guy) Mathieson; sons, Clarence "Sandy" (Alicia) Wilt and Dale (Debra) Gonser; daughter-in-law, Joyce Wilt; grandchildren, Tonya Bohon (Chuck Nelson), Jenna Talbert, Roger (Jessica) Wilt, John Wilt (Shannon Bland),Diane Wilt, Brian (Jessica) Gonser, Kyle (Devin) Mathieson, Emma Mathieson, Jessica Gonser and Chuck Cavalier; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 10 am-12 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, with the funeral service to begin immediately following visitation at 12 pm. He will be laid to rest at Copley Cemetery .
