John Gordon Cochrane
Surrounded by his family, John Gordon Cochrane was greeted by his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and entered Heaven on August 31, at the age of 73.
Gordon was born May 24th, 1940 in Akron, OH, to parents Earl and Edith Cochrane. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and resided in Cuyahoga Falls. Retiring from Lockheed Martin allowed for time to live life to the fullest. His faith and love in Christ poured out in love and devotion to his wife of 53 years, June. They were blessed with children, Steve (Lisa), Tammy (Scot), Bob (Pam). Additional blessings include his grandchildren, Gabe (Ashley), Rebekah (Matthew), Haley, Lindsey, Lucas, Marisa, Samantha, and great grandchildren Iain, Duncan, Ezekiel, and Emmalyn. His family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him great joy, and in return, he gave us great strength.
Survivors are brothers, Eugene (Nanci), Daniel and David, brother in law, Jay, sister in law, Jean (Bill) and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Warren, James, Raymond, Herbert and sisters Mary, Pauline and Dorothy.
From the inception of Chapel Hill Christian Missionary Alliance, Gordon was an active and faithful member, having formed lasting friendships including special friends Carvel and Bobbi Johnson.
Throughout his life he enjoyed the game of golf and the fellowship of the members of CHCMA golf league, particularly his partner, Buck Downey. His love of the game, competition and sportsmanship has been passed on to his children and grandchildren. The legacy of his faith in Christ will serve as a guide for all who knew and loved him.
Calling hours will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Canton Rd in Akron, Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 pm. A service celebrating Gordon's life will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am also at Newcomer Funeral Home.
