John J. Gussey

December 29, 1942 — June 3, 2013

John J. Gussey, 70, went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2013. John was a member of Stow Alliance Fellowship. He was a football, baseball, and softball coach for many years. He enjoyed building things and being outdoors.

Preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Gertrude Gussey. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of 24 years; sons, John Gussey and Dustin Barnes; daughters, Tish Jackson, Lisa Barnes (Mike Hopp), Lori Barnes; brothers, Ron (Netha) and Joe (Cheryl); sister, Mary (Don) Dollison; grandchildren, John, Jordan, Deion, and DeVon; and mother-in-law, Lucille Boggs.

Special thanks to Stow Alliance Fellowship for their love and kindness during his illness.

Calling hours will be Friday, 5-8 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg, OH 44087.
