John J. Hunter "Duck"
John J. Hunter, 92, passed away November 20, 2009. He was born in Cambria County, Pennsylvania on November 9, 1917. John resided in Akron and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. after 39 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Masonic order Adoniram-Joppa Lodge 517. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Kate Hunter; sister, Emma Kolowosky; and grandson, Daniel Hunter, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Velma; sons, David (Sarah) Hunter, Daniel Hunter, and Steve Lake; grandchildren, Scott Hunter, Eric Hunter, and Tiffany Kalloway; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Austin, Nadya, Micah, and Aiden. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service, Pastor Kim Barnett officiating, at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
