John Jay Washnock
AKRON - John (Jay) Washnock, 43, passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2023 where he was greeted in heaven by his father and guardian angel.
Jay was born on January 19, 1980, to the late John Washnock and Maryann (Nagg) Washnock and was the sixth of seven children. A graduate from North High School, he was a kind, spiritual soul and found happiness in the simple joys of life. Jay loved animals, music, nature, and the outdoors. He logged thousands of miles on foot as well as his bike, filled notebooks with his poetry, enjoyed jam sessions with his guitar and listening to good music.
Jay is survived by his angel on earth mother, Maryann, and siblings Kathy (Scott) Bailey, Mike Washnock, Chris (Donna) Washnock, Lynne (Marc) Gatzulis, Anne (Jerry) Bitong, and Carrie Washnock and nieces and nephews: Haley, Mikey, Allison, Natalie, Emma, Ethan, Bridget, Lucas, Lewis, Clark, Lily, Della, Gracin, Isabelle, Serenity, Olivia, his cat Scratchy, and countless dear friends.
All are welcome to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Tuesday, August 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave, Akron, Ohio on Thursday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m.
Private inurnment at Chestnut Hill Burial Park.
The family requests that you honor his memory by taking a walk outdoors, picking a flower, listening to your favorite music, or spending quality time with those you love.
