John G. Kafka

TALLMADGE, OHIO – John G. Kafka, was born in Akron, OH & passed away at 73, at home in Tallmadge on February 10, 2021, after a sudden, yet courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, John M. Kafka, mother, Mildred N. Kafka, and son, Matthew L. Kafka, 25.
John leaves his wife of 54 years, Donna R. (Fanning) Kafka, son, John M, daughters, Sarah, and Jennifer.

John was a veteran, having served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam war time period. He returned to Akron & began working for Goodyear Tire. He used the GI Bill to pay for his college & graduated Akron U with 2 degrees in Criminal Justice and Education, plus received his Master's in Executive Leadership at Northwestern and Ohio State University.

After graduation, he began working for the City of Tallmadge Police Dept where he served 30 years, retiring as Police Chief in 2008. He loved hunting, boating, & fishing on Lake Erie. His hunting, fishing & other stories will definitely be missed.

Per John's wishes, there will be no services and John will be cremated. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the charity of their choice.
