John Darrell "J.D." Kerns
John Darrell "J.D." Kerns, 48, of Brimfield Twp., passed away unexpectedly into the hands of the Lord on April 23, 2012.
J.D. was born in Akron on September 30, 1963. He was a lifelong resident of Brimfield. A racecar enthusiast, J.D. had an extensive collection of Hot Wheels, collectible die cast cars, and NASCAR memorabilia. He loved to go to garage sales and swap meets. In his free time, he enjoyed 4-wheeling, going for drives and visiting friends. He enjoyed buying gifts for his friend's children and he loved dogs. Despite his quiet nature, J.D. was known as a practical joker, especially on April Fool's Day. He was very dedicated to the care of his parents especially in recent years.
J.D. was preceded in death three months ago by his father, Darrell "Bill" Kerns. He was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Hobert Kerns; grandmother, Esther Vaughn; and cousin, Richard Skinner. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Shirley Kerns; sister, Brenda (Kevin) Bable; his grandmother with whom he shared a birthday, Anita Evans; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He also leaves his beloved niece dogs, Lusaka and Mia.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, April 29 from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 noon with Pastor Scott Baker officiating. Interment at Restland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brimfield Fire and Rescue Department or the animal rescue organization of your choice.
