John F. Koneff

September 4, 1941 — August 8, 2018

John Francis Koneff passed away August 8, 2018, after a long illness. Born in Akron, he was just shy of his 77th birthday. He was a life-long resident of North Hill in Akron. After attending St. Hedwig Elementary School, he graduated from St. Vincent High School.

John worked at General Tire Rubber Company for years. Golfing, playing softball, and watching sports (especially his devotion to his life-long teams, the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns) were his favorite past times.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jean Koneff, and his two uncles, Joseph and John McKoski.

John is survived by his wife, Jean; his sisters, Carol (Tom) Kayser , and Mary Ellen Koneff. He also had seven children, Julie Koneff (Marc Eidelberg), Daneale DeLorenzo (Patrick Edwards), Scott Koneff, Heather (Ken) Reardon , Sean (Julie) Koneff , Robyn (John) Hanlin , and Patrick Koneff. John also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

John's family would also like to thank Hickory Ridge Nursing home for taking such good care of him. He recently mentioned how he was blessed to have such kind and caring people taking care of him, that he considered his friends.

A funeral mass for John will be held Monday, August 27th at 11:00am at St. Vincent de Paul in Akron.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 164 W Market St, Akron, OH 44303, or Hickory Ridge Nursing Home, 721 Hickory Street, Akron, OH 44303.
