Dr. John L. Francis
Dr. John L. Francis, 82, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2011. He dedicated over 60 years to being in the ministry, as well as pastoring for 20 years at Canton Road Baptist Church. John served at the Heritage Baptist College for over 40 years. He enjoyed illustrating Bible lessons through his Gospel magic for vacation Bible school and camps. John is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 59 years, Dorothy; son, John C.; daughter, Rolanda (Joel) Hurst; grandson, the apple of his eye, Austyn; brother, Jim (Nina) Francis; and sister-in-law, Maggie Wilson and family. Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 24, from 4 to 8 pm at Community Baptist Temple, 1398 Canton Rd., Akron, 44312, where a service will be held Friday, February 25, at 11 am, with a visitation 1 hour prior, with Rev. Russell Dennis and Pastor Mark O'Donnell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heritage Baptist College, 952 W. State Rd. 44, Franklin, IN, 46131 in his memory.
