John L. "Jack" Steger
John L. "Jack" Steger, 70, died October 28, 2005 of Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born December 23, 1934 in Akron, Ohio. He was born and raised in Akron, living the past 18 years in Tallmadge, Ohio. He worked for the city of Akron for 33 1/2 years as superintendent of Sanitation Services. He was an avid bowler and golfer and loved to play poker. He was a very giving and caring person. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthias "Maxi" Steger and Katherine Everett. Survivors include his loving wife , Patricia Ann; sons, Michael Schimp and John Kevin (Angie) Steger; three grandchildren, Austin, Kaylee, and Caden Steger, all of Tallmadge; sister, Patricia Anne "Patti" Hinzman of Paris, TN; brother, Joseph Matthias (Kathy) Steger of Akron; sister-in-law, Barbara (Irwin) Craig of Diamond Bar, CA; and brother-in-law, Robert (Eleanor) Farrance of Akron. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services Monday at 1:00 p.m. with cremation to follow.
