John "Jack" Langsdale, 71, of Akron, passed away at his residence on May 16, 2002 after a brief illness. Jack was born February 26, 1931 in Akron, Ohio to Edgar & Thelma (Dotson) Langsdale. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Jack was a Baker for 57 years, former owner of Jack's Pioneer Bakery before retiring from ACME and then worked for Vincent Bakery in Cuyahoga Falls. Jack loved making people laugh, playing BINGO and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Yvonne Langsdale in March of 2000; son, John J. Langsdale; father, Edgar Langsdale; brother Neil Langsdale. Survivors include his mother, Thelma Langsdale-Haviland; daughters, Vici (Kevin) Stansberry, Becky (Bill) Blanchard, Jean (Deian) Longgood, Jane (Doyle) Hogue, Laura (Tim) Krise; sister, Mary Rose Villers; brother Ed (Linda) Langsdale; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many friends and family. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 7 - 9 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Donald Davies officiating. Interment at Lockwood Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may made to the family.
