John Roger Long

John Roger Long, 89, of Suffield Township, passed away on December 3, 2022 at peacefully at his home, in his lounge chair. He was born on June 4, 1933 in Middletown, PA to the late Mary C. Long.
In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by his son Jerry Long, sister Barbara Porterfield and daughter-in-law Mary Long.
On November 29, 1952 he married JoAnn {Fox} Long, and they just celebrated 70 years of marriage!
John is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn; children Rick, Terry, Randy, John (Martha) and Jimmy (Sherri) Long; grandchildren Lisa (Keith) Campbell, Jayme (Leland) Hellstrom, Christin Long, Dawn Ayers, Bob Ayers, Laura Beth (Dan) Rowe, Danny Long and Curtis (Angie) Long; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter.
After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, John began his lifelong career as a truck driver. He retired in 2008 as a truck driver from All Crane & Erection, after 53 total years on the road.
He was a member of Suffield United Church of Christ.
All are welcome to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service begins at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Karen Wright officiating. John will be privately laid to rest near his son, Jerry, at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont, PA at a later date.
