John M. Adams
John M. Adams, 91, of Akron, passed away April 15, 2012. He was born on April 2, 1921 in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania to the late Benjamin and Emma Adams. A World War II veteran, John served in the U.S. Army with the 3174th Quartermaster Service Company. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after over 40 years of service and owned a Gulf filling station for several years. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and bowling. He was a car racing enthusiast and a talented mechanic. John was a longtime member of Brown Street Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; and eleven siblings. He will be deeply missed by his children, J. Wayne (Sandy) Adams, Rosalie (David) Goshen, Valerie Seese, and Benjamin (Lorie) Adams; seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves his dear friend and companion, Norma Nelson.
Family and friends may call on Thursday April 19 from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Friday at 12:00 noon with Pastor Steve Rebert officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
