John Merrick
John Merrick, 86, passed away on May 5, 2010. John was a retired Sergeant from the Akron Workhouse and Veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a 32nd Degree Mason. Preceded in death by his first wife, Edith; and second wife, Virginia. Survivors include sons, Mel (Cathy), Garrett (Cheryl), and Kenneth (Beverly); 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Monday, 3-4 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 106 E. Howe Rd., Tallmadge, OH 44278, with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron.
