John Michael Miller

John Michael "Jack" Miller died October 4, 2014.

Born on May 3, 1931 to the late Charles and Clara Miller. He was born and raised in Suffield and was a graduate of Field High School. He worked at HM, Harry Miller Construction. After leaving HM, Jack was employed at Mogadore High School as a maintenance man and bus driver. Everyone who knew Jack in Mogadore will always remember his smiling face and kind words. Jack retired from the school and had taken a part-time job delivering the Akron Beacon Journal on the weekends. Dad had resided at Altercare Nursing Home in Brimfield for the last year. The residents and staff there also had given him the nickname of "Smiley"!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia. He is survived by his sister, Doris Wartko, of Tallmadge; 2 children, Karen (Michael) Cathey, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and John Miller,II, of Kent; granddaughter, Lisa Thompson, of Monroe, North Carolina; and 3 great-grandchildren, Logan, Madison, and MacKenzie.

Calling hours will be Saturday, 2-4 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m.
