John N. Huffman, Sr.

John N. Huffman, Sr., 83, passed away on January 9, 2011. John was born on February 27, 1927 to the late Jewel and Lola (Wolf) Huffman. He retired from Consolidated Freight after 30 years of service. John enjoyed life after retirement and spent much of his time at Lake Erie fishing. He was a friend to all that knew him and will be sadly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Truman Huffman; and sister, Edna Hall. Survivors include his wife, Violet, of 63 years; sons, John N. Huffman, Jr., Michael E. (Sandra) Huffman, Roger A. (Deborah) Huffman, and Gary L. (Shirley) Huffman; daughter, Barbara E. (Ronald) Ratliff; sister, Edith Funk; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at Akron City Hospital and Dr. Drew Abramovich for the excellent care. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., Rev. Jeffrey Nelson officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
