John Paul Jones, Jr.
John Paul Jones, Jr., 58 years young, passed away suddenly on February 5, surrounded by his family that loved him. He was born August 28, 1951. He lived in Akron all of his life and graduated from East High School in 1969. He was a tire pattern model maker for 30 years. He helped design the first Kookaberrle tire. He was a gifted craftsman and was called the "Best in the Business." He was an avid Cavs fan and devoted Browns fan. He loved playing his guitar and going fishing. He hardly ever missed a sports game his grandkids played. His grandkids were his greatest joy. Preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy and his stepfather Ray Hudkins; his father, John P. Jones, Sr.; and mother-in-law, Irene Smith. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary; five children, Tracy (Steve) Cook, Raymond (Lisa) Jones, Terry Jones, Matthew (Tawnia) Jones, Michael (Sunny) Jones. He leaves behind his 12 grandchildren, Taylore, Drew, Derek, Katie, Casey, Cassie, Zach, Jacob, Jerett, Justin, Josh, Abbie; precious great-grandchildren, Zoe and Cloe. He also leaves to mourn, his father-in-law, Ted Smith; 7 devoted sisters and their spouses; 2 brothers and their spouses. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and a good friend to all. A funeral mass will be Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Visitation of Mary Catholic Church (formerly Annunciation) with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
