John S. Shaffer, age 94 of Akron, Ohio died on August 30, 2022 in Akron.
He was born on June 15, 1928 in Akron, the son of the late Melville and Ida (nee Mills) Shaffer.
John was a proud US Army veteran, serving during WWII and Korea. He retired from the City of Akron after 30 years of service.
John loved hunting, working in the yard and spending time with all his loved ones.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, the former Barbara Horn, whom he married on September 23, 1954; his children, Vicki, John Ray, Cheryl (Chuck) and Julie (Mike). He is a very beloved grandfather of seven grandchildren and six great-granddaughters.
A private memorial service will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at a later date.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron.
