John R. Snyder "Jack"
John R. Snyder "Jack", 82, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2009. Jack was born in Akron on May 15, 1927. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, worked for Goodyear for several years, and later was the owner of Stroup Catering. He was a 32 year member of Al-Anon. In his free time, Jack enjoyed woodworking and flying airplanes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reno and Helen; son, Jeffrey; and an infant brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mary; stepdaughters, Sherri (Gary) Palmer, Tami (Kevin) Heddleston, and Lesa (Mike) Freshwater; grandchildren, Stacey, Ryan, Adam, Lisa, Amy, Sarah, Andrea, Kyle, and Colton; great-grandchildren, Trey, Nick, Katie, James, and Anavelle; and his beloved dog, Freddie. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 1st at 1:00 p.m. at Maranatha Bible Church, 1424 Killian Rd., Akron. A graveside service will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alateen, c/o Mickie Gould, 2464 Hillstock Ave, Akron, OH 44312.
