John Stevenson passed away in the comfort of his own home on May 29 at the age of 77.
John was well known and loved by many. The sweetest, kindest, most giving man around. John was born to Charles and Dorthy Stevenson and grew up in the Akron area, graduating from Revere High School and later moved to Wadsworth where he raised his 2 daughters, Sonya (Brian) Pifer and Monica (Neal) Brock.
John loved classic cars (he fully restored a 1970 Roadrunner which was his pride and joy), car shows, hunting, fishing, singing and music. He also enjoyed participating in sports like coed softball, as well as watching his daughters compete in various sports (mainly soccer) throughout their entire childhood. John remarried in 2002 to classmate Dianne Avery. They moved to a farm in Shreeve where they built a wonderful atmosphere filled with various farm animals, tractors, and other adventurous toys for their blended family and many grandchildren to enjoy for years. Once the farm became too much, John and Dianne retired to Mogadore.
John was preceded in death by his siblings, Harvey, Jay and Kay Stevenson, as well as his granddaughters, Taylor and Kylie Pifer.
He is survived by his wife Dianne; daughters Sonya (Brian) and Monica (Neal); step-sons George and Jason Vorse; grandchildren Kaden and Corbin Provence, Cody, Kirsten, Hayden, Owen, Avery, Vayla, and Zane Vorse; great-grandson Camden Vorse.
John will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life ceremony will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 1pm at Northside Christian Church in Wadsworth, Ohio. Family and friends are encouraged to come and share wonderful memories of John as we reflect on the incredible life that he had.
Per John's wishes, cremation will take place, and he will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Well-deserved military honors will be scheduled for a date soon to be determined.
