John Charles Trippe, age 91 passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021. A lifelong resident of Akron, John was born to the late Louis and Josephine {Parlato} Trippe on April 12, 1930.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Joan Trippe.
John will be dearly missed by his children Glenn (Jeannie) Trippe, Alicia (Bill) Rorick and Wayne (Marilyn) Trippe; grandchildren Nowyll Trippe, Neena (Daniel) Sharier, Jenna Gaze, Jessie (Tyler) Spencer, Paula (Ryan) Slezak; step-grandchildren Beth (Nate) Johnson, Paul Brentlinger, Jennifer (Brian) Carter and Mark (Lindsay) Brentlinger; 19 great-grandchildren; sister Jean Trippe.
John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. After his service, John worked as a police officer for the City of Akron, retiring after over two decades of service. John was a devoted Mason, and joined Portage Lakes Lodge. He was an animal lover, and was particularly fond of his dogs. John enjoyed being out on the water, and was an avid fisherman. He was a builder, and was handy around the house and in the garage with his cars. John enjoyed time in his "man cave," and was a gun enthusiast. He had a warehouse full of his favorite collections.
Per John's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held for his family. Military Honors will be held on Monday, December 6 at 11:15 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where John will be laid to rest.
