John W. Pruett

John W. Pruett, 58, of Akron, passed away November 4, 2008 at Akron City Hospital. He was born in Illinois on June 30, 1950. John joined the U.S. Navy in 1968 and he participated in the recovery of the Apollo 7 while serving aboard the anti-submarine warfare aircraft carrier USS Essex. He was a life-long fisherman. John was employed by Diebold Incorporated. Most of all, he was a proud father and husband. He was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Katherine; and sister, Barb. John is survived by his wife of 19 years, Olga; sons, John, Carlos and William; daughers, Sherry and Olga; sisters, Nancy and Gina; brothers, Mike Bobbie, Scott, Raymond and Milford; 9 grandchildren; loving nieces and nephews; best friend, Sully; and many more friends. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron beginning at 6:00 p.m. with Fred Feaster officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the service begins.
