John B. Wear, Jr.
August 9, 1926 — May 12, 2017
John B. Wear, Jr., age 90, beloved patriarch of the Ohio Wear family, went home to be with the Lord, May 12, 2017. Born August 9, 1926 in Madisonville, TN, he resided in Akron for 63 years. A World War II veteran, received the Victory Ribbon and Occupational Medal in Germany; he retired from GM Terex.
Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Louise; and son, Ricky Alan.
He is survived by sons, John Larry (Mildred), Jerry (Emma); daughters, Debbie Cooley, Darlene Zimmerman, Pamela Cantrell, Theresa (Ken) Kalman; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, dear friend and companion, Barbara Phillips.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM, where Pastor John DeMund will celebrate John's life.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
