Johnnie Mae Hord

Johnnie Mae Hord (Jay) 83; passed away October 29, 2021. Johnnie was born on March 28, 1938 to the late Daniel and Lillie Mae (Wood) Woods. She was a lifelong Akron resident and a graduate of North High School. Johnnie retiring working as a crossing guard for the Akron Public Schools. She greatly enjoyed serving Jehovah, spending time with her family, watching tv, talking to friends and family on the phone.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Hord, and siblings, Donald, Addie, Lucille and Joyce. She will be sadly missed by daughter, Antoinette Hord; grandsons, Antoine Hord; Rodney Samuels Jr. and Tyrelle Samuels. Twelve great-grand kids: Rodney lll, Royal, Reign, Royce, Raniyah, Tayden, Tre'Viaun, Wynnter Samuels, Tyrelle Flint, Desire Harris, Demetrious and Madison Owens. Special friend Patricia Snipes. Nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Johnnie's name to the charity of your choice.
