Jon Stratton Woods, "Woody", age 75 of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died on February 20, 2022 at his home.
He was born on August 11, 1946 in Akron, the son of the late Loren and Jane (nee Prange) Woods.
Jon was a 1964 graduate of Woodridge High School in North Hampton and was an sales rep. and auto mechanic for many years. He liked to golf, fish, ride his Harley, play pool, dance and sing karaoke. No matter where he went he had a great time!
Woody was an honorably discharged US Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Jon was an active member of the VFW Huff Post #1062 and the American Legion.
His love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; he loved teaching them to work on cars while he watched them work.
Survivors include his children, Jon B. Woods and Jennifer (Bret) Simmons; his grandchildren, Justin (Missy) Simmons, Jenna (Ryan) Hentsch, Jessica Simmons, Payton Simmons, Brian Woods, Madeline Woods and Jacob Simmons; and his great-grandchildren, Erich, Penelope and Elijah.
His brothers also survive, Jim, Jody (Loraine) and Jeff (Loree) Woods; and his sister-in-law, Allison Woods.
Other than his parents, Jon was preceded in death by his brother, Loren Woods; his uncle, William Prange and his aunt, Lois Allphin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, where Pastor Joel Cochran will celebrate Jon's life.
Family and friend may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
Following all funeral services, Jon will be cremated and his cremated remains will be interred in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
