Jonathan T. "Jonny" Newman

Jonathan “Jonny” Newman was called to heaven unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024. Jonny was born in Akron, Ohio on March 2nd, 1992. He graduated from Lake High School in 2010 and also attended the University of Akron. Jonny was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nancy Newman and loving uncle Charlie Schramm. He is survived by loving mother, Gina (Jerry) Cottrell, father, Paul Newman, brother, Anthony (Julie) Newman, sister, Tiffany (Brian) Wolfe, brothers, Bailey Newman, Tyler Newman, Austyn (Darion) Newman, step sisters, Savanna (Blaine) Cottrell, Julia Cottrell, nieces, Leighton, Oakley, Wren, and nephew, Hayden, grandparents, Ron (Sherry) Schramm, Howard Newman, aunts and uncles, Smokie (Mary Kay) Schramm, Blair (Susie) Valentine, Renee Schramm, Rachel Newman, and host of close cousins that he grew up with.

Growing up, Jonny was very athletic and loved basketball, football and baseball. Jonny’s care free, infectious personality always made him fun to be around. He was always the life of any party and loved playing practical jokes on people. He made friends with anyone he came into contact with, including his close friend through life, Trey Vaughan, and cousin/friend, Jake Schramm. Being a big kid himself, all kids always gravitated to him and loved to play with him, including his “sisters” Emmri and Averi, and his nieces and nephew. He had a passion for music and movies. Jonny made a lasting impression on everyone that he met. While there could never have been enough time to have spent with him, we are so grateful for the memories that he was able to leave us with of his genuinely caring, funny, fun loving, charismatic personality.

Calling hours will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. In Akron on Monday, July 8th, 2024 from 5-7 pm. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 at 10:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home. Interment will follow immediately after services at Hillside Memorial Park.
