Joseph "Joe" C. Hochevar, 87, of Akron, after a bravely fought battle with cancer, went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2013. Joe was a WWII Navy veteran. He worked at O'Neils in downtown Akron for 38 years. He was known for being the man behind the Christmas window displays and setting up the Christmas display/walk throughout the store.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Edward Elzholz.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years, Marge; children, Richard, Christine Elzholz and Randy; grandchildren, Jennifer Stover and Jason (Cinthia) Elzholz; great-grandchildren, Allison Stover, Brittany Stover and Andrew Elzholz; brother, Richard "Nick" (Margaret) Hochevar and sister, Mary Stemkowski; many other family members and friends.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, December 18, from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Friday, December 20 at 1 p.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
