Joseph Chuifo
Joseph Chuifo, 71, of Akron, passed away April 27, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center. He was born January 2, 1938 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Angelo & Lena (Libertine) Chuifo. Joseph served in the U.S. Navy and later worked at the Chrysler Stamping Plant. He enjoyed working on cars, was an all around handyman and liked to tell stories. Joseph was known for his very precious kitties. He was a member of ASPCA and the Eagle's Club 555. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony J. Chuifo; and sister, Marie M. Robinson. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon L. Caplinger, Sandy (Brian) Graham and Debby (Joe) Chandler; 2 sons; grandchildren, Beth, Herbert & Laura; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Keirah; sisters, Margarita V. (Michael) Bowers and Katherine Lawson; brother, James Chuifo; and his 13 cats. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Nevin Weist officiating. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Greater Akron, 4904 Quick Rd., Peninsula OH 44264.
