Joseph L. Gillespie

March 23, 1934 — July 19, 2017

Joseph L. Gillespie, 83 of Tallmadge, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2017. He was born in Aurora, IN and grew up in Jamestown, OH graduating from Silvercreek High School in 1952. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years serving as a church deacon and Sunday School teacher. By trade, Joe was an upholsterer working for a number of furniture companies, primarily The Krohler Furniture Corporation in Xenia, OH and Marlboro Furniture Corp in Mogadore, OH. He spent the last 42 years of his career with Carroll's Furniture and Upholstery in Akron, OH.

He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and his church family. He was a great father and pawpaw. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory loving wife of 64 years, Carole; son, Tim of Cuyahoga Falls; daughter, Deborah (Jason) McHenry of Akron; and granddaughter, Halle Jewels.

Family will receive friends on Saturday July 22, 2017 from 10-11am with funeral service immediately following at 11am at Calvary Baptist Church 820 White Pond Dr. Akron, OH 44313. Pastor Aaron Furman and Rev. Lanny Akers officiating. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. He will be greatly missed.
