Joseph F. Mongold

Joseph F. Mongold, 83, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2018. Joseph was a long-time active member of Millheim Baptist Church where he served on the Board for many years. He retired from Packaging Corporation of America. He enjoyed working in the yard, and loved spending time with his family and camping.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, William Mongold and Nina Elizabeth Dye Mongold Symons; step-father, Charles E. Symons; his wife of 37 years, Janet Mongold; siblings, Elwood Symons, William Mongold, Shirley Mongold Broadwater, David Mongold, and Thomas Symons.

He will be missed by his children, Linda (Brad) Birch, Beth (Robert) Harper, Marvin (Marsha) Sharpless, Mike Sharpless, Joletta Rebovich, Carolyn (Larry) Daniel, Joey (Jennifer) Mongold and Misty (Russell) Williams; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Crowe, Dianna Grady, Sandra Clark, June Clark, and Norma Jean Metz; brothers, Jack Mongold, Richard Mongold, Charles Symons, Jim Symons, and many extended family members and friends.

Friends will be received on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Millheim Baptist Church, 2661 Hayne Rd., Akron, OH 44312. He will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joseph's name to Millheim Baptist Church.
