Joseph R. "Joe" Watkins, 51, passed away on April 6, 2012.
Joe worked as an electrical machinist for many years with Hamrick Manufacturing, and enjoyed outdoor hobbies such as fishing, hunting, and horses. He will be remembered by his beloved family and friends as a kind and generous man with a beautiful heart.
Preceded in death by his mother, Mary; and sister, Kathy. Survivors include his father, Raymond; sisters, Jackie Douglas, Debbie (Jim) Castor, Johanna (Chris) Cobbold, Judy (Mark) Shenot; brothers, Robert, David (Cindy), and Daniel; many nieces and nephews; and several lifelong friends.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the transplant and intensive care team of doctors and nurses at Cleveland Clinic who cared for Joe so compassionately and supported the family through his illness.
Calling hours will be Monday, 5-7 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, 10 a.m., at St. Matthew Catholic Church. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44195.
