Joseph A. "Joe" Rockey

Joseph A. "Joe" Rockey, 76, went peacefully to the Lord on November 3, 2006, after a brief illness. Born February 2, 1930 in Altoona, PA to the late Albert and Bernadette Rockey. Joe served in the Korean War with the US Air Force. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after over 40 years of service and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where he was active as a volunteer and usher. Joe's first joy was spending time with his loving family, but also gardening, traveling, home repair and remodeling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister William and Mary Rockey. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Theresa; daughter and son-in-law Lea and James Drake; sister Dolores Hudak; and adored granddaughters Audra and Erin. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church 44 University Ave., Akron. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Private inurnment will take place at the convenience of the family.
