Joseph F. Rose Jr., 69, of Akron, passed away with his family by his side on January 7, 2023. He was born in Nyack, New York on July 1, 1953 to the late Joseph F. Rose Sr. and Joan M. Rose (nee Bryan).
After serving in the U.S. Army, Joseph married Mary Luzader and they settled in Akron to raise their family. He retired from Patio Enclosures in 1992. Joseph was an avid golfer and fisherman. He particularly loved taking fishing trips to Lake Erie and Canada. He was also a skilled pool player. He belonged to the Akron chapter of the APA and competed in Las Vegas on two occasions. He loved football and was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Joseph had an indomitable spirit, even when facing serious health issues. He weathered multiple bouts of cancer and was a liver transplant recipient. He kept up the fight for as long as he could and served as an inspiration to his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Rose; and best friend, Jeff Bennett.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Mary, with whom he would have celebrated 45 years of marriage this September. He also leaves his beloved daughters, Crystal (Larry) Boganwright of Fairmont, NC, Jodi (Will) Munko of Stow, and Shirley Rose of Akron; grandchildren, Cole Rose, Leyla Boganwright, and Cora Boganwright; siblings, Shirley (Don) Morrow of Newton Falls, William "Bill" (Cindy) Rose of Cuyahoga Falls, Ursula (Terry) Bergamo of Silverton, OR, Timothy (Joy) Rose of Minot, ND, and Christopher (Lisa) Rose of Ravenna; sister-in-law, Gwen Rose; many nieces and nephews. Joseph also leaves numerous dear friends. His family especially thanks Brad and Laura Bennett for their help and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 4-6 followed by a 6:00 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
Joseph's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
