Joyce A. Voegeli (nee Alspaugh)



Joyce A. Voegeli (nee Alspaugh), 75, went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2009. She was born on August 20, 1933 in New Castle, IN to the late Mendal and Virginia Alspaugh. Joyce was a 1951 graduate of Cadiz High School in Indiana. She was a member of United Evangelical Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and participated in People Serving People. Joyce will be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother who was always giving of herself to help others. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and tending to her many beautiful plants and flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Keith and Kenneth Alspaugh. Survivors include her beloved husband Donavon, of 48 years; daughters Sheila (Michael) Schottenheimer, Sherrie (Mark) Hilbish, and Dianne (Mike) Fouts; sister Beverly Cassity; brother Ronald (Kim) Alspaugh; grandchildren Danielle, Eric, Bethany, Dru, Cory, Cody, April; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m., Pastor Gary Brown officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Summa.
