Joyce A. Gessler, 66, died suddenly on Monday, January 1, 2007 with family and friends nearby. She is survived by cherished companion and friend Jay Johnson; daughters Tonya and Michelle (John); son Michael; and grandson Nicholas, all of Akron. She is also survived by brothers David (Cynthia) Brookbank of Seattle, WA, Chuck Brookbank of Williams, AZ, Richard Brookbank, Thomas Brookbank, and Robert Brookbank, of Akron; sisters Margaret Forte and Janet Schley of Akron; and many loving nieces and nephews. Joyce was a proud and long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous and had many dear friends. Her radiant smile and spirit will be sadly missed by all. Calling hours will be Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral Mass Friday, 10 a.m. at St. Martha Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
