Joyce Ellen Post

Joyce Ellen {Rittenour} Post passed from this earth to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2023. Joyce was born July 23, 1945 in Akron, Ohio.

Preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Bertha {Wodtly} Rittenour and Joe her husband of 55 years. She leaves her daughter, Jennifer (Thomas "TJ") Gaines of Medina, OH; her son Joe (Ann Snyder) Post of Akron; her grandchildren, Xander and Zachary Gaines and Holly and Henry Post. She also leaves her brother, Ron Rittenour and her sisters, Donna (Cid) Vance and Sue Johnson along with three nieces and one nephew.

Joyce graduated in 1963 from Akron East High School. She worked at many places during her life: The BFGoodrich Co., Lawsons, Davey Tree, Williams and Co., JoAnnn Fabrics, and was the manager of Towpath Treasures in Jackson Twp. for many years.

Joyce was extremely creative and enjoyed making crafts to sell in Towpath Treasures. One of her greatest joys was making quilts for her family and friends throughout the years. Another passion she had was doing the family's genealogy for both her and her husband's family. She worked on it for over 30 years and created detailed books for each of her children. Joyce also enjoyed working in her yard and planted many beautiful flowers over the years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Friendship Animal Protective League in Lorain County. Joyce adopted her dog "Beagle" from this shelter. He was a great comfort to her after her husband's death.
