Joyce E. Reed, 80, passed away in the peace of her home on May 30, 2023. She was born on August 1, 1942 in Akron, Ohio to the late Peter J. and Gladys L. Bradley.
Joyce was a strong woman who loved her family and friends deeply and fiercely. She saw beauty in everyone and accepted others for who they were—not who she wanted them to be. Joyce lived in abundance and was always willing to help others no matter how little she had. She embraced every moment she had with those she loved.
Joyce was an avid reader; one of her favorite books was Gone with the Wind. She loved flowers and loved to crochet. Joyce was a member of the Turner Club in Tallmadge where she enjoyed spending time with her friends and playing cards.
Joyce will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her beautifully unique laugh, her infectious smile, and her world-famous baked beans. Her passing has left a void in all of those who knew her but her presence will live on in those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Brian Bradley and Billy Westfall; daughter Gina Schutz; and brothers Peter J. Bradley and Barry E. Bradley. Joyce is survived by her loving family of four generations, children, Sherrie Hostetler, Eric (Dana) Westfall, Paul (Mary) Westfall; grandchildren Matthew, Joshua, Shyanna, Cody, Gina, Courtney, Hannah, Joyce, Tabitha, Adam, and Bobby; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
I entrust my mother into your gracious care, and look to you with faith and hope in everlasting life, to comfort me in my grief and pain. I ask this in your powerful name, Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, you are the name above every other name. As I mourn the passing of my mother, may I find safety and comfort in your name.
A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at a later date. Her family welcomes your memories and condolences in the online guestbook at: www.NewcomerAkron.com
