Joyce A. Tomer

Joyce A. Tomer, 76, passed away August 6, 2020. Born in New Castle, PA to James and Pauline (Callahan) Platt she had resided in the Akron area for the past 47 years. Joyce was very outgoing and she never knew a stranger. She greatly enjoyed fishing, camping, bingo, watching the Steelers and spending time with her grandkids and the rest of the family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sons, Eugene Marketich, Douglas Marketich, Robert Marketich and several siblings. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 47 years, Bill Tomer; daughter, Kathy Rutter; son, Charlie Tomer; grandchildren, Audrey, Kendal, Quinn, Charlie; siblings, Bill Platt, Pam Coleman, Margaret Lynch, Kathy Coates; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131N. Canton Rd. The memorial ceremony will immediately follow at 12 noon. Please expect to wear face masks and practice social distancing. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Joyce's name to the American Cancer Society.
