Judith Ann Kassinger (nee Jones), 67, resident of Springfield Township, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 following a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born on June 5, 1946 in Akron to the late Ira Jones and Gadel (Arnold) Jones-Shinn. Judy retired from Giant Eagle deli after many years of service and also worked as a Special Education driver. She was appreciated for her straight forward approach and always putting others ahead of herself. Her passion for God, as a Jehovah's Witness, shined through her love for her family and all those she served in her lifetime.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Jerry Kassinger, Sr. and brother Bill Jones. She is affectionately known as 'Bat' by her surviving family including children; Jerry (Stephanie) Kassinger, Jr., Jeff (Stacie) Kassinger, John Kassinger and Robin (Terry) Fout, sisters Darlene Solkoski and Lawana (Norman) Toler, sister-in-law Kathy Kassinger, brother-in-law Brad Kassinger, grandchildren; Joey, Julie, Johnny (Megan), Justin, Billy, Taylor, Mackenzie, Andrew, Jacob and Hunter, great grandchildren; Jennie Ray, Carter, Camera and Brayden, many nieces, nephews and relatives.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Hillside Memorial Park.
