Judith Marie Dubich, age 80, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on November 1, 2022, after a long battle with dementia.
Judy was born on March 18, 1942, to her parents, Charles and Mary (Bogdanovich) Dubich, in Akron, Ohio, and was the second oldest of four siblings. She attended Goodrich Jr High & Garfield High in Akron, Ohio. She eventually left Ohio to forge a new future in Detroit, Michigan, where she worked several jobs and became a sought-after Paralegal.
During her years in Michigan, she met and married Burt Adams, who she remained with for several years as they migrated from Michigan to Southern California. She lived in California for many years, even after ending her relationship with Burt.
After Judy reached retirement age, she returned to her state of origin, purchasing a condo in Columbus, Ohio, not far from her niece Liz and her family. She lived happily for several years in Columbus but craved the company of old friends and moved back to Akron, where she stayed for the remainder of her life.
In the estimation of practically everyone she met, Judy was the center of any social event she attended. Her quick wit and sharp sense of humor, accompanied by an infectious laugh, drew adoring family, friends, and, frankly, fans to her mesmerizing personality. She was also capable of choice words and prickly observations, reminding us of the long, sometimes hard road she traveled.
Judy also exhibited an innate creative flair. While growing up, she learned to sew from her mother, which became a lifetime love of the art. As a result, Judy became a master seamstress, often producing the majority of her wardrobe from scratch. She also possessed a natural flair for interior decorating, effortlessly expressing her personality in every dwelling she inhabited.
Judy endured several health issues in her final years, including hip and back surgeries and ever-advancing dementia. Yet, she was an eternal optimist, expecting to overcome her problems to enable her to attend the wedding of her nephew David to his fiance Sandra in the summer of 2022. Although she ultimately couldn't participate, those who knew Judy recounted her fondly and celebrated her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Dubich, and her brother Charles "Chickie" Dubich. She is survived by her siblings, Marilyn Adams, her brother William "Bill" Davis, and her cousin Stephen Bogdanovich.
Her greatest joy was being an aunt and Grande Dame to her family. She will be greatly missed by nephew David Adams (spouse Sandra Everingham), Dave's daughters Maxine and Lily Adams, niece Trudy Adams, niece Elizabeth (Dubich) Rave (husband Mark Rave, son Logan), and nephew Stephen Dubich (wife Melissa, children Kayleigh and Seth).
Judy is also fondly remembered by close friends Barb Hunter, Jean Colson, Rosie DePue, Sharron Hollingsworth, Amanda Burkholder Kushner, Elizabeth Letz and Jean Reymann.
The family is forever grateful to Judy's caretaker and friend Keith Reymann for his invaluable support of Judy during her final years.
In lieu of a traditional memorial service, Judy's family has requested that you raise a glass and toast in her honor with your loved ones and share a memory or two about Judy.
