Judy Kaye Berringer was called Home by Christ on August 7, 2021, following a long illness. Born in Akron, Ohio on March 23, 1942, Judy lived a life that was often in service to others. This service was demonstrated through being a preschool teacher at Color our Rainbow Academy in Goodyear Heights and the JCC on White Pond Drive; by teaching Sunday School at First Church of God in Tallmadge, where she was a member dating back to McKinley Avenue; and by being an anonymous donor to many families in need of help and encouragement. Judy would put the needs of others before her wants.
Preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruby Koons, and her brother, John Koons, Judy leaves behind many family members who will mourn her death. They are her husband of 50 years, Don; children Don II (Kelly) and Lisa (Joe) Zemancik; grandchildren Emma, Clara, Leonora and Alanna Zemancik, and Ryan and Hannah Berringer. Also grieving are Judy's brothers and sisters, Barbara (Robert) Lehmann, James Koons, Irene (Don) Cummings, and Joseph (Connie) Koons. Judy also leaves behind many others who knew of her selflessness and generosity.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 13, 2021 at First Church of God, 464 Northeast Avenue in Tallmadge. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00am. Rev. John C. Phillips and Rev. Douglas W. Walter officiating.
