June A. "Junie" Gurnish, age 101 of Akron passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 19, 2021. She was born in McDonald, PA on June 1, 1920 to the late Graham and Violet {Boulding} Cooper.
In addition to her parents, Junie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son Joe Gurnish; siblings Diana, Graham Jr., Bill and Cecil Cooper, Emily Borio, Vera Aloise; nephews Jimmy Cimarolli and John (Debbie) Aloise.
Junie's legacy of love will be carried on by her sons Jim Gurnish and Jay (Carol) Gurnish; daughter-in-law Vickie Gurnish; grandchildren JoDee Blakney, Joseph Gurnish Jr., Shannon (Dave) Sampson, Melissa (Zach) Zufall, Jacquie (Greg) Flynn and Jay Gurnish II; sister Mary Lou (James) Cimarolli; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends.
Junie was a longtime member of Clearview United Methodist Church, where she made many friendships and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also loved volunteering at church, offering free meals to the local community. Junie's favorite memories were made while spending time with her friends and family.
