June M. Parry

February 13, 1947 — January 8, 2024

The world lost one of its brightest rays of sunshine when our dear June left us on January 8th after bravely battling a year-long illness. June was born in Akron on February 13th, 1947, to Kenneth and Marian Parry. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1963. June was employed as a secretary by QK Mold in Kent for nearly 30 years. In 2002, she began working for the City of Akron as a 9-1-1 dispatcher and later became one of the first employees hired for the city's 3-1-1 program. She worked there until she retired in 2017.
June's generosity was evident in various charitable organizations she passionately supported, including Amvets, St Judes, and Wounded Warriors. June spent many years as a counselor for the Summit County suicide support hotline and various community and church programs. A woman of great faith, June was a High Street Christian Church member and, later, Wedgewood Methodist Church. In her spare time, June loved cooking and baking. Her dishes were the most talked about during family holidays. She also enjoyed art and nature photography. In later years, she took great love in bowling, where she participated in bowling leagues with her sisters at the Akron Bowling Lanes. She also loved traveling and could be found many weekends in the Mohican State Park "To get away from it all."
Though Junie has left us, no one who ever met her will forget her kindness, whimsical sense of humor, and overall generosity. Though her passing saddens us, the warmth of her personality will give us all comfort for many years to come.
June's family would like to thank caregivers from Summa Home Health and Summa Rehab, who provided exceptional care, especially: Jenna, Bonnie, Bernadette, Tiffany, Dave, and Meghan.
June is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Marian, her brother, Kevin Parry, and her beloved partner, Gregory Anikeeff. She is survived by her sisters Carol Conner of Atwater, Jeanie (Jim) Weidie of Akron, Beth (Tim) Larch of Tallmadge, and Kathleen Stutler (Brian Creamer) of Medina. Nieces and Nephews Michael (Lori) Conner, Patrick (Mikelle) Conner, Ron John (Veronica) Conner, Terri Kellough, Lynn McLaughlin, Steven (Abby) Larch, Christopher Stutler, Megan (Jonathan) Houk and their baby Lincoln, who was the light of her life during her final few months, and best friend Pamela Gardner. To honor June's memory, we will hold a Celebration of Life at a future date. We invite you to donate to The Summit Metro Parks in June's honor.
