In great sadness, we mourn the passing of Karen Grace (Xanten) Gorham. Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend to everyone. Karen was born August 29th, 1963 to Helga and David Xanten in Shirley, Mass. She joined her sister Kathren, with whom she was very close, in a military family, seeing many areas of the world. After settling in Pennsylvania, her mother met and married Charles Andrews, and eventually moved to Ohio. She graduated from Field High School, and worked at several McDonalds in the area, Harbor Inn, Jack Horner's, and Egg Castle. She met her husband Roger Gorham through a roommate, married March 27th 1987 and began their life with a beautiful baby girl, Nicole Grace Gorham. In a few years, they added to their life another girl, Ashley Marie Gorham. Through the years, we had many pets which Karen loved having them around.
Our girls, married to the finest men around, Daniel (Nikki) Collier and Jeff (Ashley) Mlinarik, have begun to create the bonds of life and love that Karen and I have enjoyed and shared for 30 years.
She passed peacefully on March 24th 2017.
She asked that there be no somber traditional service, so a "Celebration of her Life" open house will be held on Tuesday, March 28th 2017 at our home, 393 Alaho St, Akron, Ohio 44305 beginning at 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice. Her favorites were ASPCA and Ronald McDonald House.
