Karen "Kerri" Runion (Hobden) ascended to Glory on the evening of September 26, 2017. In her final days on this earth her Husband of twenty years, her children, her grandchildren, her siblings and countless friends were by her side.
Karen, 67, had no regrets leaving this earth as she lived every moment of every day to the fullest, bestowing her tireless faith, compassion and love on every person she came into contact with.
Karen was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a nurse, a missionary and a chaplain. She set an unattainable standard while performing all of her roles with elegance, grace compassion and love.
Karen was a nurse for most of her life; she helped to heal innumerable people with not only medicine but also with her infectious happiness, hope and kindness which emanated from her like a soft warm glow. Karen knew no strangers and if you had the fortune to have known her you would attest, as we do, that your life is better because of it.
Karen's passion in life was to help and heal people both physically and spiritually and she was able to do that as a Chaplain, for nearly 20 years, with Broken Chain Jail Ministry who worked within the Summit County Jail and other correctional facilities across the region to help, console, mentor and rehabilitate uncountable persons whose life had taken an unfortunate turn. Karen believed that there were no bad people just bad circumstances and with enough love, faith, and determination anyone could better their lives and themselves.
Karen's faith in Jesus knew no bounds and because of it she traveled the world as missionary for Christ. Karen traveled Africa, India, Thailand, Mexico and several other places across the globe spreading her love of Jesus Christ while helping to better the lives of countless people throughout the world.
Karen's family and friends fueled the bright light of love within her and all of them will find it difficult to replace the void left in their hearts from her departure but they will also take solace in knowing that she has achieved her biggest dream, to be in heaven alongside Jesus with all her family and friends who took the journey there before she did. We also know that she will be standing at the gates of heaven to walk us in when we depart this earth.
Surviving is her beloved husband Bill Runion; three children, Christopher Csonka, Brian Csonka and Bobbi Armsey; ten grandchildren, Nicholas, Maddison, Bayleigh, Dyllon, Makayla, Blake, Clayton, Bethany, Maci and Bryson; five siblings, Donnie Hobden, Donna Rehs, Mike Hobden, Connie Hobden and Candy Miller.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Hobden, and mother, Joyce Hobden.
