Karen Ann Sims

Karen "GMA" Sims, age 76, of Akron, passed away July 20, 2023, with her family by her side.
She was born to the late Elmer and Wanda Lewis, born on October 27, 1946, in Barberton, Ohio but lived most of her life in Akron. Karen was a graduate of Akron East High School and retired from Acme with 18 years of service. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Karen spent most of her life taking care of her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed swimming and tanning in the summer, celebrating holidays and family gatherings. She spent her past time watching Chicago Fire and Days of Our Lives, sitting on her front porch, and loving her dog, Duke. Karen was best known for her feisty attitude and eye rolling.
Karen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 29 years, Tim Sims; sister, Lynn Barker; and brothers, Gary and Larry Lewis.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Crissy)Sims; five daughters, Kim (Joe) Clark, Lisa (Doug) Ralphsnyder, Dina (Chris) Dickey, Kelly Sims and Laura Sims; five granddaughters, Alisha, Hannah, Emily, Abigail and Kayla; eight grandsons, Christopher, Timothy Tyler, Alex, Brandon, Mikey, Camron and Brayden; one great-grandson, Landon; and one sister, Judy Lewis.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44305 on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be following at the Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.
