Karl F. Hirsch, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2016. Karl was born on April 1, 1936 in Akron, Ohio to the late Henry and Helen (Kral) Hirsch. He was a 1954 graduate of Garfield High School, and proudly served 10 years in the United States Army Reserves. Karl retired from B.F. Goodrich, after a hardworking career of 37 years. In the time after retirement, he happily resided on a beautiful mountaintop in Avonmore, Pennsylvania. He loved to travel and shared many memorable hunting, fishing, and vacation trips with his family, which are fondly referred to as "The Good Days" with Dad. Karl also enjoyed watching sports, most often cheering for the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and yes, even the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was loved and will be missed by so many.
Karl is preceded in death by his wife, Minerva "Toots" Sloan-Hirsch. He is survived by his five children, Matthew (Colleen) Hirsch, Barbara (Dominick) Polsinelli, Christyne Mullins, Mark (Heidi) Hirsch, and David Hirsch; grandchildren, Erica (Nate) Ramsay, Marissa (Tanner) Hughes, Megan Hirsch, Sydnee Hirsch, Gillian Hirsch; step-grandchildren, Olivia Polsinelli and son Griffin, and Rose Stull; a sister, Joan (Tony) Martin, and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305. Morning prayers will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 9:15a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St, Akron, Ohio 44301. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
