Karl C. Nagel, 84, passed away at his home in Uniontown, Ohio on December 29, 2021 after his battle with pancreatic cancer, a heartfelt loss for family and friends.
Karl is survived by his wife, Leona, of 63 years, his two daughters, Cynthia (Chuck) Slabaugh and Linda (Marty) Leymon. He was preceded in death by his son, Karl. Also surviving is his brother, Robert Nagel; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Suzanne) Slabaugh, Brittany (Brad) Paliswat, Jourdon (Katelyn) Leymon, Dylon (Carol) Leymon, Cameron (Madison) Leymon and five great-grandchildren.
Karl was born in New Brighton, PA, where he started his life long career as a truck driver in 1957. Karl took a job with Roadway Express in 1965 and moved to Akron, Ohio. He retried from Roadway after a total of 41 years of long distance driving.
He was a dedicated Teamster of Local 24. After retiring he was an active member of the Retired Teamsters Fellowship Club and the Saturday breakfast group at Farmer Boys. He planned the monthly luncheons by organizing, cooking and serving for several years, he also participated in the Teamsters picnics and Christmas parties. He was a member of the Mogadore Moose Lodge #1082 since 2005 and the fraternal Order of the Police since 2008.
Karl dedicated his life to Christ on February 24, 2002.
He was the best backyard mechanic you ever met. He could repair anything and was always available to anyone who needed his help. He had a passion for cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed going on Poker Runs with friends and spent most of his time outside or in his garage. He was very meticulous in everything he did. He had an incredible sense of direction and a mischievous sense of humor. He always had a joke or a story to tell.
Karl will be dearly missed by his family and the many friends he made over the years. Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, where Pastor James Gergon will celebrate Karl's life.
