Katherine M. Buchner "Mamaw", 79, of Akron, passed away June 9, 2008 at Akron City Hospital. She was born September 28, 1928 in Sharon Center, Ohio to the late Anthony E. & Katherine (Grief) Kammer. Katherine was a graduate of Sharon High School Class of 1946. She was an inspiration to her family & friends. A woman of strength and courage who overcame many obstacles throughout her lifetime. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Buchner; son, Robert C. Buchner; and brother, Anthony J. Kammer. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy & Rick Cooper of Akron; grandchildren, Robert J. (Sandy) Buchner, Eric (Jennifer) Cooper and Leah Cooper; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ariel and Joey; sister, Eva Platz of Akron; sister-in-law, Judy Kammer of Dayton, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John & Julie Fier of Pennsylvania; many more family and friends. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to caregiver and friend, Mary Anne Redinger for all the love and kindness she gave to Katie in the last few years - "Boo".
